Looks like someone in the UK is now manufacturing anti-sizzle gear levers with bush & retainer nut.

Before looking on eBay I thought the 'steal' referred to an excessive price, actually it is not at all expensive for a low volume product and if restoring a car is better value than getting an original steel part chrome plated.

As to whether it will bother the originality freaks or judges at car shows I cannot say, but I'm sure the S1 never had the anti rattle feature.

Ian,

I was talking to Brian Buckland about gear levers and he told me that S1&2 had a different lever without the anti sizzle bush. I just checked his book and he shows a photograph of the S1&2 lever. It looks like a conventional one piece lever coming straight out of the box.

SJ Sportscars has had them on their site for a while now, albeit without the bush. X036F0130Z

The bush can be a problem on these repro items, I bought on such lever a few years ago from PM for my 5 speed conversion, and the vulcanization between the external metal sleeve and the rubber did not stick more than a couple hours use : it was very smooth, possibly the surface not adequately degreased - not sure about the quality of the rubber itself... problem was acknowledged, blamed on a manufacturer from India, and a replacement was promised as soon as to problem would be fixed.

Having still received nothing, I understand that the problem is not solved yet...
