Elan Plus 2 MT75 Slave Cylinder Bleeding

PostPost by: yosini » Sun Dec 17, 2017 2:33 pm

Hello,

So, I finally got a it more 'time off' to replace the clutch master cylinder on my Plus2 - cutting the top off the pedal box made life so much easier. New cylinder in, great. Car up on axle stands, great. Can't find the slave cylinder, strange...Tracing the hydraulic pipe it travels inside the bellhousing so a bit of online reading points me in the direction of there possibly being a concentric clutch slave cylinder somewhere in there, ideally with an external bleed nipple somewhere.

With the MT75 Spyder conversions where would the best place be to start looking for this magic hidden nipple...? I've had a good look and rummage around under there but can't find anything that obvious yet.

Any pointers welcomed

Cheers

ok, search over - but I was not expecting that....for future reference and for anyone else looking in vain. It's on the opposite side to where the hydraulics enter the belhousing behind a well disguised rectangular grommet shielded partially by the exhaust. Great, now let's see if it will bleed!

Joe, here are a couple of pictures that might help with your description. Item 1 is the hydraulic line and item 2 is the bleed stem. Note the bell housing orientation in the first picture, which shows the bleed opening is on the left side as you found out; the bell must be on it?s side in the other picture.

Here is a link to the service manual for the MT75. The Scorpio web site also has the parts diagrams. :D

Question. Does yours have a rubber piece to fill the rectangular hole in the bell? Mine never had something to cover the hole, and not sure where to get something. Transmission is out righ now so would be a good time to add something.
