Rebuilt box running in.

PostPost by: tcsoar » Mon Mar 07, 2016 8:28 pm

Hi Guys,

Just about to fit a rebuilt gearbox and was wondering if there was any running in period required and do I need to use any particular oil to start with, box is the four speed.

Thanks,

Chris.

not really . standard gearbox oil . be easy on your clutch plate for a few hundred miles maybe and don't overheat it ..

Put a magnetic plug in the gear box if you don't have it. I use a standard cheap gear oil for the first few hundred kilometres and then change it for Redline and clean the magnetic drain plug of metal that will have built up during the initial running in.

cheers

Thanks for the info guys, cheap oil then change for Redline sounds good, I was already using Redline in my old box.
