Thanks guys. ... I am now even less constrained by originality with this car. I can dig that. Takes the pressure off.
This repro S2 dash has given up in the heat. Now an internal debate about veneer. Teak: Can't find it. Mahogany: I want teak. Walnut: a bit too Jaguar or +2...

I just searched teak veneer on Amazon and there are several choices. I used paper backed teak veneer on mine, attached with West System epoxy. came out great and easy to do. Veneer on plastic sheet, ply dash and lots of weight on top. Paper backing makes it easy. I did solid unbacked walnut burl on my +2. Had to use a vacuum bag. Came out good but lots more work and supplies. Probably could have bought one for same cost but I learned a new skill. Gary

The full width veneer dash with lockable glovebox replaced the part width oiled teak unit officially with the introduction of the Series 2 from Unit No 3901 in Nov 64.
However, a glove box door had been available as an option for sometime on the 1600 beforehand. In addition, we know about the Series 1 1/2 which saw some of the S2 changes introduced onto the production line before the 1600 run out.
