Before I forget to mention this tip.
To save faffing about in the passenger foot well trying to fit a solderless nipple on the end of the release cable, do this. Maybe obvious but I only decided to do it as I hate trying to do these.
Make sure the two lock nuts are running free on the treaded insert/ barrel that goes through the bulkhead. Sometimes so stuck, one looks as if it was one piece. Build up the whole assembley through the dash and through your driver side. Take an approx' measurement of where the solderless nipple should go agaist the installed pull back clips. Make sure the cable adjuster in the middle is at it's shortest. With the whole thing built up (except for the last lock nut and lock washer) thread through the bulk head and fit the washer and lock nut over the nipple from inside the car. Then nip up lock nut. Mark inner cable with some tipex and test. If ok, great, if a bit slack, using the tipex reference marker remove and adust nipple postition.
Far easier than trying to tighten the nipple in situ. Not so obvious until you have a think about it.
