Glove Box Interference

1967 S3 (RHD). When I got the car there was no glove box innards. Just a gaping hole. I simply thought the PO had torn it up somehow. (That would have been totally in character!) So, I purchased a new unit from the UK. I'm getting ready to install the dash and it is blatantly obvious that the glove box will hit the demister hose that exits the LH side of the heater box and connects to the LH demister outlet. This is a major interference, and obviously why the PO removed the glove box innards.

Does anyone have a picture of how the demisting tubing was originally routed? I guess I could close off the LH opening and put a T in the hose from the RH exit, connecting to both demister outlets.

Thanks,

This is an S4 but likely the same as your S3....

Thanks very much. Simple fix. I installed mine backwards with the hoses on the front part of the heater box as that seemed the easiest way to route them.

There is a recent thread on this topic. Some cars (the earlier ones?) have the vents at the rear. Others have them at the front. If you have the rear version I think the pipe loops under the glove box and up between the gap between the box and heater at the front.

You can convert to front or rear vent exit by opening the box and reversing the side panels.
