My car has this circular hole in the back of the glove box, so does the replacement glove box. My car had nothing in this hole, what is it for?

It might be the for the location of the anti-theft switch

Wasn’t it for access to something behind? Definitely not the alarm switch was in the side and much smaller.

It should have a grommet in it and it's purpose is to access the far end of the bonnet release cable.

If the glovebox is in place you will find it incredibly difficult to fit the grommet unless you get a very flexible one.

Thanks again. Fortunately, glovebox attached to dash, but not in the car.
