I have basically the same headlight mod as 1owner. I've had it in a lot of rain, and in fact hit water so deep exiting the Golden Gate bridge 2 years ago in April that water briefly came over the nose. Luckily my car doesn't have a mechanical fan. But water around this headlight setup isn't an issue any more than with the pop ups.

Jerry, as my car has Chinese Eye headlights, the perspex covers sit into a small stepped flange allowing perspex to sit flush with body. On the original car they were fitted with screws and spire nuts, now to make it easy to remove we fitted the covers using small allen headed bolts which were (plated black so they blend into the background, can't remember size) then we made nut plates which are riveted to shell using counter sunk rivets.

Cheers

Am I missing something, on my 26R is got period lamps which are not sealed, the fonts are however and the lamps are fitted from behind the panel which stops any direct water ingress.

On my other restorations I use sealed beam headlights...
