Ean Series 1 and 2 door handles and boot hinges

Another hopefully quick question as I put the Elan and Plus 2 Source book to bed - were the Series 1 and 2 door handles and boot hinges chromed marzak (or pot metal) or polished cast light alloy?

I'm sure I've seen some Series 1 and 2s with polished alloy items; I assumed these were 26R/GTS lightweight items. Anyone know what the factory fitted?

The originals were heavy brass which was then chromed.

The alloy components have been made over the last thirty years by the racing fraternity.

I had a 26R S2 many years ago and it had chrome brass hinges and handles.

My S2 26r has the same brass chrome door handles, boot hinges and front window channels as standard Elans.

All the alloy parts are modern replacements from TTR or Kelsport.

The door handles and hinges seemed to be unique to the Elan.

As I'm sure you know the rear of the boot hinges were so shaped to allow the back edge of the hardtop to lock in place underneath.

Surplus hinges were used up on early S3's.

I’m waiting for some chromed brass handles from Paul Matty ...when they reopen
