White soft top.

It?s a dreary day here in Ireland. Was going through the ?parts department? and finally got around to looking at some of the things that came with the car (Six years ago!). One old hood with a pretty decent plastic window. A tonneau cover in great condition and curiously a white vinyl soft top.

I have never seen a picture or even a reference to one. Was it something for warmer climates?!

Here you go Brian, a little treat for you this morning. And I don't want to hear any more stories of your time in South Africa again

I changed this top when I got rid of my last pair of white stilletos.

Yes, they exist Pete. Funnily enought, I sold this top to a guy in Ireland. Can't remember whether North or South, it was some years ago now. I couldn't possibly drive about in a car with a white hood. My hairdressing days are a long time behind me.

Waiting for my poached eggs on toast. HURRY UP IN THERE !

Well if you are going to wear them you should learn how to spell the word.

White soft tops have always been available, they just are not popular. Never factory fitted though.

Here is a Federal version!

I think Jaguar offered a range of hood colours for the E-type. White in the tropics might not be such a bad idea.

Thanks Leslie,

I think I have your old one then! Perhaps you sold it to Kerryblu (Gerry) in Tralee. I bought the car from him in 2013. It?s in good shape so it may grace the next project. It?ll never be seen. It hardly ever rains here!

Now that you mention the name Pete, Kerryblu does ring a bell. That must be Gerry's ebay name, as I think I sold through that outlet, and yes, it was in good condition. I did wonder about the wisdom of someone buying a pre owned hood, fit wise, for another car, but it obviously turned out alright. Maybe that why I only received one bid.

As best I know it's only ever rained once in Wicklow. It's just that it's never stopped.
