Radiator Fixing Brackets

Hello gentlemen. I have come across a very early S3 Elan. The radiator fixing brackets which look professional bolt to the top flat of the bonnet scoop. I have not seen this type before being used to the angle brackets that fix to the metal scoop support. Can anybody confirm that these brackets are the originals from the factory??

My thanks
Brian Buckland

Yes on early S3 the fixing brackets were attached to captive nuts on the top of the moulded bonnet scoop.

Best pic I can find in archive, I think the bracket is the scoop support.

By complete coincidence, I have just worked out how my radiator is attached and identified my S3 radiator brackets in the rusty pile of mangled metal I purchased. Picture attached of the refurbished upper brackets and remade lower ones. The lower one in the picture is for the RH side. They fit on the top of the two bonnet support scoops as can be seen on the picture posted by Craven.

I must have thought a hundred times "Why have holes been drilled on top of the scoops?"

Cheers,

David
