Bonjour G?rard,

OK you have fitted a SPAL rad fan and it is now not possible to refit the bonnet spring in the original (lower) location (which was on the steering rack).

I'm not personally sure about this, but perhaps someone knows?

As a guess you will need to make up a specific bracket? [fabriquez une platine adapt?e?]

I have fitted my fan to the left of center (as viewed from the driver's seat) so it does not
interfere. I also found that the fan needs to be narrow, ie, no more than 2.5 inches in
width.

When I fitted a fan and it interfered with the spring space, I removed the spring completely and always lift the bonnet right off to do anything in the engine compartment.

So did you use pins or something to hold the front of the bonnet down? Many years ago I had my bonnet fly off completely when I forgot to reattach the spring - fortunately ending up on grass so it wasn't too badly damaged but it's not something I'd want to happen again.

Mine actually has a lock on the bonnet now, with a tab rotated by key that goes into a metal reinforced slot on the back surface of the engine compartment.

The front doesn't need holding down as the front lip goes under the front surface of the main body.
