Federal Sprint turn signal blanks

Hi All,

Most Federal Sprints have an indentation blank where the front running lights would have gone on non-federal cars and on earlier models. My 72 federal Sprint does not have such indentations and the area where the blanks would be, just above and to the side of the amber turn signals, is smooth.

Were some cars made like this or was this a modification from a previous owner? Also, my car does not have the rear lip seam in the back of the car like many Sprints.

Jay I think someone has modified the front to hide the indentations.

Your car was build October '71, my car was built Feb 1972 & has the rear lip, so it was introduced sometime in Winter of 1971. But then there could have introduced the flange gradually if there were multiple molds... which I am sure there were...

Hi Jay,
You should be able to see from the inside if the sidelight profile is still there, or just filled with bog.
The previous owner of my car, remove the fuel filler, bogged it over, and fitted a VW Beetle fuel filler in the boot. Fortunately, I was able to pick out all of the filler and uncover the hole and profile for the rubber gasket.
Yours is probably the same.
Cheers,
Colin.
