Hello all,
putting doors back together on my S130. Can you tell me does the inside of the door have a plastic / polythene membrane over it to stop water ingress and protect the door card?? Also if it has, does it cover the whole door or just the open apertures?? Any pictures would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance, regards, George.

No picture handy but mine covered the entire door. But give how few holes are in the door, I wonder how much of it is really necessary.

Same as on my 72. The door car upholstery had a flap of vinyl that fitted over the bottom of the opening for the inside release lever to protect the exposed edge of the door card.

My car had no membrane but that doesn't prove anything as it's been resprayed several times.

I fitted membranes made (of all things) out of a clear pvc shower curtain, with double sided sticky foam tape (5mm wide) to protect the door cards.

To answer Veg's comment, the window seal is questionable, especially around the quarter light on the Plus 2 doors, and my cards have certainly suffered over the years. I doubt fitting a membrane would harm anything and should cut down on noise and drafts.

When I fitted mine, I left a flap folded over the top of the window sill to protect the top of the card. This was a mistake, because with the window open I can hear the material rattling around. I've be yet to fix that..
