Thread for rear light bezels

I am replacing my chrome rear light surrounds on a 1967 S3. Does anyone know the proper thread size for the screws that hold the ally plate to the surrounds, capturing the lens? I've tried all I have. On disassembly the old surrounds were held in by sheet metal screws which cut their own threads. Is this standard practice? It appears there are threads cut in the new pieces.

Thanks,

BA threads are common in electrical components, perhaps 4BA (0.142" diameter, 38 tpi)? Self-tapping screws would not have been used, that is probably a DPO quick fix.

The screws which attach the light to the car are 2BA, but the screws attaching the back plate to the surround are much smaller, and on mine were also self-tapping screws

Sorry, I really must read the question a dozen times, instead of the half dozen times that I did before answering. I was refering to the chromed screws that fasten the lens to the chrome surround on S4's and Sprints. Not remotely what the OP asked for.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try tapping the surrounds to 6-32. If that's too small then 8-32. The chrome is soft enough and then use a bit of Loctite to secure.
