Hi All
I am putting parts back on my plus 2 and I am having a problem with the big rubber seal that the flip locking cap fits into . Could anyone post a close up of their filler cap showing the rubber if possible .It may be a case that the previous owner fitted the wrong one as it seems to overlap the bodywork.

it IS supposed to overlap the body and "envelope" the body edge.

Yes - in essence it is a very large grommet.

they are an extremely tight fit ! Some lubrication will be required . You'll think it'll never fit ... but it does eventually

Softening it in hot water beforehand helps as well.

Mark you got it spot on-- 'Im guessing that John's seal is a larger overall diameter and doesn't sit in the recess.
It fits in the hole but no matter how I rotate it it overlaps on one edge of the body -the rest being in the recess.Looks awful but as I have found lots of Lotus parts can drive you mad.I guess that when the filler cap goes in it locks moisture out.

The Veg picture is how mine fits but the other side of the rubber sits on the bodywork about 30mm of it.
