Hi all,
Have just recently discovered the Elan carries a secondary door seal.
No wonder I have been getting a draft for the last 24 years.
Dopey bugger.
I have just recently replaced the main pinchweld door rubber that goes around the opening but now I need to address the secondary seal.
The pinchweld was easily sourced in Australia and assume that the profile required for the job will also be available.
The meal strip retainers I gather will be easy for me to make.

Q1 What I need to to know is where are the seals exactly positioned on the underside of the door and their length?

Q2 Also would like to see the shape of the rubber profile so I know what to search out at the supplier?

If anyone has an image or knows where I can find one it would be really helpful.

The secondary seal attaches to the body above the front of the door. It's a simple L shaped strip held in place by aluminium strips and pop rivets - the usual suspect in the UK sell the parts. I'm not aware of an additional seal that attaches to the door.

On my Sprint the seal is the same as in the photo by Roger and is for Elans.
For the +2 Elans it is a different profile and was not fitted to all model +2s. eg. not fitted to +2S130 but not fitted to +2S.
I think the idea is to channel water away from coming in the car rather than stopping draughts.
Draughts can be caused by no plastic membrane taped to the Door under the Door Trim Panel.

A very good point, there is no plastic covering on my car so also will be addressed.
I reckon you have a good suggestion there.
