Hi, does anybody have suggestions on locating a new crash pad for my S1 Elan? And opinion on quality of same?

Thanks for help! Mike

Perhaps this helps: Paul Matty and Kelvedon sell part of the crash pad it would seem (a ABS plastic top):

http://www.kelsport.net/parts/product_d ... ctionID=62

This does not seem to be same as the original one which I believe is moulded foam covered in vinyl (at least mine is!). I bought mine recently through small ads in France as with patience these parts do turn up out of the blue.

S1/S2 crash pads are probably going to highly sought after as increasingly historic racing scrutineers are insisting on crashpads, timber dashboards, door mechanisms and generators being fitted.

Type 26 still has a few and as far as I am concerned they are the best made.

With "Type 26" you mean "Type 26 register" ?

Yes. Charles has few left that have some creases in them and then they are gone forever. He?s not making them anymore. I bought one from him 3+ years ago when I restored my S1 and its a work of art. Not like the plastic ones out there.

I bought one about a year ago and it's very good
