Door trim removal

On the +2 does the horizontal stainless trim on the door top/window bottom, just slide off backwards?

(Let's see if my photobucket is working these days)

I am currently stripping down my Elan as it is in need of some paint attention.

Thanks

Having recently installed some of the trim, the clips allow the top of the trim to be hooked over and the bottom pushed on. The shape of the trim would make it difficult to pull off towards the rear. A plastic trim removal tool would help from gouging the body.

Great thanks. I thought the trim was sort of bendy and formed in place and would therefore slide backwards - but I see what you mean. I shall attempt the pop from the bottom technique unless advised otherwise.

Having managed to bodge the first trim off it is clear they should really slide forward. The trim has an access point for the clip. The second trim I used a rubber hammer on to tap forward, disengaging each clip from the trim in the access point :-

My next question is which way should the clips go? Mine go different ways on each side. It makes sense to me that the first picture is the correct way up:-

I have looked at the parts list etc but it is not particularly clear.

Second picture is correct or how they were fired on my car...

They should hook over the top clip and then push over the bottom clip. I used a short length of wood and mallet to get the more difficult ones on my car.

Like the bottom picture on my car. Hook over the straight part, and push over the rounded part on the bottom.

I refitted my clips in the way shown on the second photo. I did try the other way round, but then it wasn?t possible to click the trim in from the bottom.

Seems to make sense to me to push the bottom of the trim over the rounded edges of the clip. Having first hung it on the straight/sharp edge of the clip?
