Door surrounds and mystery switch

Hello
Can you please tell me if the doors surrounds pieces are painted black or alu polished ( elan S4 ) . Mine are satin black , is it correct ?
Close to the steering column , under the dashboard , there is a small switch , identiq to the alarm one in the glove box . What is the function of this switch ?

My window surrounds are satin black, on FHC Elan....................

The surround around the window frame is chrome plated originally - if painted black it is probably because the chrome has deteriorated. The exposed Fibre glass door panel inside the door shut areabetween the outer door skin and inner door trim panel was originally satin black on my S4.
