Judging by the way they put it back this is not the first time it has happened :?

Hi

"Judging by the way they put it back this is not the first time it has happened"

Judging by the way it was put on is probably why it fell off! - didn't look like he put any weight on that what so ever!

Steve

No, but what he did do was to fling it hard against the stop. This would apply significant force to pry it out of its mounts.

Hi
Well have re looked at the footage and there is no way it was flung hard against the stop - no driver error there - when you open the door it is not supposed to fall off!

Steve

The plastic nodules have to be TIGHT in the recess to stop this happening especially with the lightweight doors. Obviously these were not!

S2 elans and 26R doors don't have hinge check straps, but what they do or should have is a strip of high density foam glued vertically to the body/door recess behind the front part of the door to act as a soft stop...the foam prevents the doors flinging open and putting forced pressure on the bobbins. The door on my S2 flung open while going around a corner while in town many years ago, and it was just pure luck that the bobbins did not pop and the door end up on the road...how embarrassing would that be.

i dont wanna offend anyone, but at donington (ef) any FF team would look 10times more professional: a FF at 10grand (?) and the 26R at 150grand - does that make any sense!!!!????? sorry folks i even worked in F1!
