We Elan owners should all help one another with advice and it isn't very helpful or constructive to "clog up" the forum with meaningless threads. As it happens it appears that my question relating to angled/straight threaded studs has actually shown that the badge quality varies on this issue.

Best not to make your next question about stripes then....

Depending on the age of the badge the threaded studs will vary.
Later ones have metric threads which have an included flank angle of 60?
But earlier ones may have BA with an included flank angle of 47? 30'
On the other hand they may be Unified with a 60? flank angle.
Or even BSF which has 55?

That should sort it all out :)

Why do you insist on ridiculing a post? a poster asked a question and it was answered yet you try to turn the post into a joke.
All questions deserve a informative answer and by adding comments that are neither constructive or helpful does nothing to encourage new members to post a question least they be made to look foolish.
The questions may be beneath your vast technical knowledge being that you were the "wonder boy" at BMW as you are fond of telling us but someone who posts a question is asking for help be it a small or (silly) question in your opinion but they are looking for an answer to something they do not know or they want clarification on.
Considering the majority of your posts are in the inane joke section (a section I dont think the forum needs) I would suggest you carry on building up your post count there instead of the technical section.

Phew, sounds like that one has been festering for a few years; well as they say, better out than in.
I think there must be some sort of ignore button somewhere, give it a go old bean.
Anyway, hope you're feeling better now :D

Salut

Whilst I would agree that GrUmPyBoDgEr sometimes pushes the limits, I would also say there is room (and need) for levity. As mentioned care should be taken to not ridicule new members - IMHO after 50 posts you should know what's going on and are fare game. At this level you should also be prepared to be a target and appreciate the non-humiliation tone usually intended.

William2 - you're at 126 posts. Like me, IMHO, you are fare game. Your post was just used as a point of depart for some fun - I'm sure (hope!) that nothing personal was intended.

Replying to your post the stud angles don't look too extreme and in my experience there should be enough play in the holes. Use nylocs or some thread compound to lock the nuts - and don't do them up too tight because you'll pull the stud off - I know and I feel stupid for knowing.

Keep posting.

Thanks for resurrecting this topic Sandy. Oh what fun we had back in 2013, things were quiet on here and Brexit was a form of crispbread.
