What i meant was several earths were going to bolts here there and everywhere. Not just the main earth point. Was a three man job to hold dash up while we found all these. Time consuming to say the least.
It was a few years ago but i recal it as being one of the worst jobs ive had done.

Making good progress with my dashboard rebuild, most of the instruments and switches installed and a nice new DAB radio which is nice and short and clears the heater easily. But, on check holding the dash in place I noticed that on the four top securing bolt holes, the centre two have bobbins bonded in to the body to secure to, but the outer two don?t. It?s years since I removed the dash and can?t remember how these two top outer screws are secured, is it just a loose nut or something else, can anyone advise me please.

Hi. I can confirm that the center two have bobbins and the outer ones require a washer and nut. The red arrows show the LH side positions. Hopefully you can see that the far left has no bobbin and the center has a bobbin.

Thanks for the quick reply TeeJay, looks like it?s going to be fun putting the nuts on those bolts when the time comes!

Thanks for posting that. Im missing a few nuts then. That may stop it vibrating loose im guessing.

A couple more removal questions :-)

A) I'm about to disconnect the oil line from the back of the gauge. Before I do this, I had a question....is this likely to create a big mess with oil leaking everywhere?

B) I also posted a question elsewhere about the steering column getting in the way. Now that I have the dash loose (temp and oil not yet disconnected, I notice that the column is stopping the dash from moving forward. Also, the WM says that the dash should be able to tilt fwd by 60 degrees. I don't see how this is possible with the column there.

What has been everyone's else experience?

I don't want to use much muscle as the old dash is quite fragile.

Cheers
Paul.

Should only get a few drops of oil at the most from the gauge line when disconnected unless you turn the engine over. I had my interior completely stripped out so can?t help with just removing the dash with the rest in place
