Window motor runs backward

PostPost by: pamitchell » Sun Oct 23, 2005 4:44 pm

I had the driver's window motor cleaned and lubed by a shop
and now the window motor runs backwards. The switch up position
lowers the window and vice versa.
How do I reverse the motor? I borrowed a spare window motor that works
correctly and both have identical wiring.
TIA

I had this problem on mine when I first re-installed the motors after lube and cleaning. I just turned the toggle switch over ... don't know if the polarity had changed or it was my error in reconnecting the wires to the motor and switch or if I just had the switch upside down to begin with.

I too, had my drivers side switch working backwards after replacing cable. My mechanic had been working on the instruments and the dash and may have reinstalled the switch and reversed the wires. They fixed it. I don't remember if they just turned the toggle over or changed the wires. The easiest, like Marc, is to just flip it.

I have run into this myself. It was a matter of just having reversed the two leads on the motor. Switching the leads back, or turning the switch over accomplish the same thing.

Thanks All for the advice.

How do I reverse the wiring on the motor?. I have 2 Green wires paired together with a bullet connector, 1 Black ground spade connection to the
motor housing. 1 Brown/Red tracer connects to a terminal in the red housing above the motor gearbox. There are two connectors marked Green & Black in the red housing. The Brown/Red connects to the Green terminal. Do I switch it to the other terminal in the red housing?
TIA

If you know it works backwards, don't change anything. Push up when you want down and vice-versa. I've found that every time you try to fix something like this, something else doesn't work.

Phil.
I had the same question about just changing the motor wiring. Mine, like yours just plug in. The dash switch wires would be the easier to switch. I just turned the toggle over.
