Removeable hardtop reinforcement

PostPost by: 1964 S1 » Fri Jan 12, 2007 3:01 am

I've got a factory hardtop shell without headliner, that flexes at the front whenever I take it on or off the car and stress cracks are appearing. Does anyone know how the twisting can be stopped? Are there cross struts under the headliner? I've thought of spraying the underside with foam insulation and sculpting it appropriately but I think it'll still flex quite a bit.

I would cross brace it like the front bonnet. Rolled up paper tubes covered in a couple of layers of 1.5 oz.

I also had the same problem ---mine was prepped to paint and the sander sanded till he hit air ----i reenforced the front with fiberglass and corrigated cardbord behind it ---its better but I never remove the hard top ---ed
