Hi There
This is a bit late on this thread, but I would always replace the heater matrix with a modern one if taking the dash out. And replace the hoses. On the LED question, I found that for stop / indicator lights the visibility was heavily reduced angle wise. Fine straight on though. Also the flasher unit has to be changed for a modern one, or a resistor used with the lights.
Modern extra bright halogen bulbs for the headlights are enough surely?
