Valve cover crinkle paint, How?

So, I'm a bit bored of my original black valve cover on my +2S130, and would like it bright red in the same crinkle finish laquer, followed by a thorough polishing of the ribs and logo.

What kind of paint should I use to get this finish?

Frost sell a 'wrinkle' finish paint in red, black and grey product code P110 Their web site is www.frost.co.uk/. I have not had any experience of using it. I understand that the conditions in wich it is applied is critical but I guess it will come with clear instructions.

They make a wrinkle paint that I have tried and am happy with. They call it VHT Wrinkle Plus Coating. The part number for red is SP-204. Good luck.

Just a note about wrinkle paint. As I recall Frost only had blood red and black. I did my cam cover with the red. I put it in the oven with the door open(too big) and pointed a heater blower at it. It gave a great effect but the colour was wrong. I found some normal orange and painted over the top. It kept the wrinkle finsh and has been on 4 years. I also polished the ribs etc and laquered the lot

Nice! Any good tips on polishing the ribs? And did you pre mask them?

When I painted mine I just sprayed everything and the block sanded the ribs and lettering back to shiny alloy....

I used those flexible cleaning blocks from the RS catalog. It is rubber with a mild abrasive, very subtle. I have had them years but as I recall they come in different grades. Pink, black and brown. I have them from switchgear contact polishing/cleaning days.

Will have a look if I have mo!

When I've done mine, ( several times ), I've wrapped a clothe around a wooden block, dampened it with thinners and carefully wiped it across whilst the paint was still wet.
Usually do it a few times by turning the block and having a fresh, clean piece each time. Seemed a lot easier than using sandpaper etc. afterwards.
