I have bought 2 rear lap belts and brackets does anyone know how to fit them? I am not too technical so a detailed description with even a pic would be greatly appreciated!

Easy...
there should be two holes either side of each rear seats (under the seats).
just screw the belts in!

Kev,

If yours is a late model, the mountings will be there but will be behind the edges of the trim panels. The Workshop Manual (Body - B.31) explains what holes need to be cut in the trim when installing the mountings, or if they've never been used.

PM me your e-mail address and I can send you some photos of installed lap belts showing the mountings - I've recently taken some for information for someone else.

Kind regards,

I fitted a set of rear belts to my 71 UK spec S130. There were no mountings already fitted as these were not a standard feature. Paul Matty was able to supply a set. They were fairly easy to fit.

Mine is an early 69 car so I have bought the fixing plates but not sure how to fix them.

Kev,

I understand. Section B.31 in 'the Manual' explains how to fit the plates, cut the trim, and fit the lap belts. For the inner one (in the transmission tunnel) you'll need access (and a helper!) under the car - do you have use of an inspection pit?! The outer one goes on the inside of the wheelarch so should be easier to fit.

Have fun!

My October 73 plus 2 has the rear seat belt mouting plates on the outside but no plates ever fitted on the inside. So check both sides rather than assume they are there just by looking at the wheel arches - which is what I did !

Rohan,

Well, that was a sneaky cost-saving idea, wasn't it ?!
Lotus must've been really short of money....!
I wonder whether it was cost that made them put the 'S130/5' badge on only one side of the car too ?!...
