Engine Mounts

I've always gone along with the idea "Stromberge Carbs" same mount both sides.
"Weber or Dellorto" high mount on Carb side.
The "big valve" cam cover is more likely to touch underside of Bonnet at it's front top square corner.
Also when people who change the Chassis don't Shim between Chassis side Flanges and Body resulting in contact with underside of Bonnet/cam cover.

I think the definitive answer is that it is not definitive and a high lift mount on the carb side of a Plus 2 MAY fit depending on engine to bonnet clearance :)

The other thing that is definitive is that while it may be fitted, it is not required to be fitted for footwell clearance, unlike on the Elan where it is definitely required for footwell clearance with Weber's

When I fitted a tall block TC, I drilled new holes in the engine mounts in the flanges as high as was possible.

I think you will find that another problem with the new mounts is that the chassis mount holes are placed farther away form the base or engine mounts. At least that is the case with the ones I have.
