Elan Coupe chrome door window gap

Hello!
On my 1966 elan coupe, there's a big gap between the door window chrome moulding trim and the roof and I was wondering if it was normal. Its the chrome part on the body, not the one on the door itself. I'm I missing some weather striping? The trim seems to be properly screwed in place, but it its a bit large.

Does the outer face of the door frame fit flush with the outer face of the door aperture gutter trim. I have seen some cars like that. Not sure if it is correct but it does at least provide a channel for the rain.
My S4 FHC had the gutter trim in close contact with the body door frame aperture. My door frame outer face was flush with the outer edge of the trim. I think it is a better look but not sure if it is correct.
BB's super book sugests a sealant between the trim and body, which mskes sense, but mine has none.
The door frames can be moved (tilted) toward the body by adding washers to the lower frame/door attachment points.
You may have already done this.
Having described my set up, the original gutter trims were in a poor condition (battered, scratched and loss of anodising) so I ordered new replacements.
They are much wider and produce the gap at the roofline that you have, plus the trim outer edge protrudes over the outer face of the door frame.
I'm guessing that they are wider to cater for final position if the door frame and are meant to be trimmed??
Having measured I think that if I remove material from the trim to remove the gap I could also lose the pre-drilled holes.
As the gutter trims are an awkward shape I am still pondering how to go about trimming them.
Perhaps someone on the forum might jump in and help us both.
