Lotus Elan S4 Boot separator

PostPost by: Beardyvaper » Thu Mar 03, 2022 3:28 pm

Hi everyone, new member here, for the last few years I have been rebuilding an Elan S4, your group has helped me many times previously but now I have a question that I haven't seen an answer to.

The vehicle was stripped before I got to it and part way through a rebuild so I'm trying to rebuild it with minimal Lotus knowledge.

Regarding the boot to cabin separator how is this fixed to the vehicle? I cant see any points for attachment, does any body have any information to help me possibly with pictures to help me also?

Apologies if this is the wrong section but it seemed the most fitting as I couldn't see an Interior section

You need to tell us whether it is a DHC or FHC. Then look at your parts book.

My friend, a name always helps when you are writing to someone and welcome to the board, you are most welcome.here.

You have indeed posted your query in the correct place, as far as it goes. I have long campaigned for an INTERIOR section on the site, but so far that has fallen on deaf ears, come on Jeffrey.

I will be along a bit later with a picture of how the backboard fits in a DHC, but as the previous poster says, his name is Roger by the way, though he does not say, you need to advise whether you have a DHC or a FHC, as the fixing is slightly different.

Post up some pictures of your car and the area you are working on, makes for a more interesting thread.

Best,

Leslie

Before fitting the rear bulkhead panel it is worth giving it a coat of fire retardant paint. It won’t give loads of protection, but may give additional vital seconds for exiting the car if the worst happens.
