Strange... sounds like a failsafe (Federal system.) Was the car imported from the US?

Phil - failsafe headlights weren't Federal specific, all Sprints had them. There's a Lotus service bulletin in the Wiki re: the headlights staying down for 12 hours (the warranty for which would only be honorred for 3k miles in the UK!). https://lotuselan.net/wiki/Failsafe_Headlamps

Per,
Welcome to Elan.net, your car looks nice in your other post.
The normal UK suppliers list the failsafe vacuum pods, they will post to Denmark.

I haven’t bought one of these for some time, I remember them being around £80. Now they are £220 +

I have on if you cannot get a new one (it is a +2 - are t,hey they the same?) Very good condition indeed. Someone a couple of years back asked me to keep it for him, but after this time cannot think he is interested anymore. You can have it for 70€ plus postage.

Hal,
That's a generous offer, I think that Per will be pleased he stopped by here. They are the same for a +2 or Elan.

The headlamps on my Sprint have been tucked away for months … definitely not failsafe.

Lemser,
I was in Suffolk in July and collected one from Sue Miller for a friend with a Plus 2. I assume Sue stocks them, but as others have mentioned the price is about £220.
Hope you get sorted,
Richard Hawkins
