S130 door lock overhaul

Hi , I've overhauled both doors, replaced locks, latches and rod bushes.
When I lock the doors using the key it only turns a small amount from the vertical which is very hit and miss in actually locking, it will unlock o.k. turning the key the opposite way.
Locking the doors from inside works fine with a strong 'wack' from the spring. The R.H. latch is a NOS one but the L.H. is a used Austin Maxi identical to the existing one.
The reason I've done all this is because I had both locks jam, leaving me stranded outside the car.
I have not got any confidence now in using the locks, they surely should work more positively
