Has anyone fitted a new bodyshell and have pictures around the engine bay before fitting to the chassis or any of the ancillaries please. In particular I would like to see the bulkhead and the near side inner wing panels.
Thanks
Tony

Hello V
Thanks for responding, I need shots around the whole engine bay please, especially the bulkhead below the screen across the whole width and down towards the gearbox and also the left hand inner wing panels from the bulkhead to the bonnet scoop rail, as viewed from the seats. Also under the wheel arch on the left hand side, from the centre to the bulkhead.
Also could you also take some measurements for me please in the engine bay of the left hand footwell box, so how far forward it projects into the engine bay from the bulkhead and also how wide across the car and how deep towards the floor. I want to make a replica of the footwell box for another project so photos of its shape and dimensions are important. If you are in the UK its the passenger side footwell I’m referring to for clarity,
Not sure if the 26R shell is different in this area, mine is an S4 so the new shells may be better. Does this mean you have three projects on the go?
Thanks for the help, if it’s easier to pm me with the info and pictures let me know
Thanks
Tony

I have spent hours on this topic
https://lotuselan.net/lotus-elan-engine-bays
since I needed to hookup everything to a new shell. Not all questions got answered, but lots of them cleared up quickly.

Hi, unless someones knows differently I believe the engine bay and inner guard areas on all elans are same, with the upper moulding changing with later models.
There are differences in holes drilled for later control boxes and vents holes etc.
I'll get some picture back next week if thats ok.

Hi V
Yes any photos would be a great help.
Looking at the engine bays its amazing how many variations of the holes on the bulkhead there are as well as the position of the main harness, control boxes and ID plates
