Stumbled across this, not a lot of use to me but if you're in the States might be worth keeping an eye on.
Couple of +2's.

The cash values assigned to those first two cars are ridiculously optimistic.

I think that is the used car value of a normal condition car of the type and age not the auction value of a wreck.

I did like the 2006 Elise pile of bits though. Hard to imagine how it ended up like this unless it went off a cliff

cheers

A good guess would be an idiot with more money than sense filming a Tic Toc video.

I also believe it is this. Purpose is to give buyer some idea of value of the car should they repair it, so they can asses how much they might buy it for.

These site are primarily targeted at mass market vehicles and this type of data is used automatically pulled from some data base somewhere. So is going to be inaccurate for niche vehicles like Lotus and especially older lotus where there is a lot of variance based on condition.

It also probably worth mentioning that in most cases these auctions aren't open to the general public and you some kind of trader licensee etc to be able to register bid/purchase. I think the details can vary a lot depending on the state/company and auction type.

I think the owner posted on here or Facebook about the green +2. The damage is a lot worse than it appears in photos and includes chassis damage.

Even in Canada, we have yards. Sort of hard to believe.
Both IAAI and CoPart do some good marketing, of course they want top dollar after losses.

Sabbot’s Kermit. Green +2.
The door was ripped off, and sill damage too.
It is obviously a very nice, and if you follow Sabbot, you could do worse with any other +2. Basically in top shape.
I dont think he got enough from his insurance, I figure his car is worth well into the $100,000 range.
The Élan and +2 are so rare and great, I am lucky to have both!

At risk of turning this thread into something else, but for decades the lotus Europa.were cheap, and in the states still appear great value but in the uk they start as a box of bits at 15k and driving ones start at 30k. Since when did a Europa suddenly quadruple in value ???
The elan plus 2 is better in almost every way.
And don’t get me started on Porsche 911 (head slap)
