PostPost by: greg40green » Tue Jan 11, 2022 7:25 pm

Evening all
Did anyone else see the 1973 Elan Sprint project on Car and Classics that didn't sell
Project £33,000.00 + may be a reason
I wonder why this Sprint Project didn`t sell ?

Anyone know about the car

Doesn't look bad at all.

"I have not had time to go through the braking system, which will need attention, the car having sat for 16 years. There will no doubt be other issues to sort out, ie slow indicators, nearside window inopperative"

Hardly a project... looks very nice!

My thoughts also .
I remember seeing the Sprint for sale mid November 2021 and thought 'Project' ?!?
Looks good , but not sold .
£34,000.00 , seller may be under valuing it or under-estimating re-commissioning work ?

Still looks a pretty DHC Sprint for £34,000.00 , bargain for someone .

Hi Greg ,

I don`t know why the Elan hasn`t sold ... but I "think" it belongs to Leslie who posts on here ...

It should make a nice little Elan once it`s sorted out :-) .

Cheers ,

Paul .

Curious why the center of the bonnet lip is cut away? I don't think I've seen them like this?

Aren't they all? To clear the radiator fan on the front of the radiator... this is mine:

Interesting.... my 69, while electric fan, is not cut. Guess it's a 70 and later change.

Mine is a 69 (registered in May) but has the cutout. Snowyelan, does yours have the original electric fan mounted on a separate frame or the fan mounted to the rad?

Oops ... Just had the wrath of Leslie for putting his surname on here ... my apologies ... I think I do it automatically when someone has a dual-gender first name ... sincere apologies !

Post edited accordingly :-) .

Morning Keith,

Mine was mounted to the side brackets, but was not the type shown below. It was metal blades but they were shaped/rounded out more. I have a vague memory of someone mentioning it was a domestic market only fan, but could be wrong. I can dig it out and take a pic if you want.

Good morning Scott, mine came with the setup like the one on the left. I bought my car when I was still in England so it is the UK spec with Stromberg carbs. I still have the original rad & fan assembly but changed it a couple of years ago for an aluminium wider rad. My car always tended to run hot in the summer here especially when stationary.
