There was a period in the '70s that "Modsports" and "Prodsports" racing was very popular. Elans and Escorts were very well represented, so were Marcos and TVR.

The above looks like one of those cars. Rich Kamp of Kampena Motors has one.

Why sad?

Of course this is a modsport and a very nice one too (maybe not purple though 8) - it has even won an award or two as a modsport. Someone had a hell of a lot of fun with this car. The only sad thing to me is that this someone has had to part with the car for whatever reason.

Hal - sad in the same way that I feel sad looking at a beautiful woman with far too much make up..........................and no dress sense.

This Spence Specification Lotus Elan BRM was built by first owner Bill Marshall of Beds. Despite having changed colour to yellow from purple, all the original features remain including the 13" x 9" JAP Magna wheels.

All the original history has stayed with the car which includes the invoice from J.A. Pearce Engineering for the wheels and the massive Firestone GP tyres. Raced by Marshall, it had a BRM Phase III TC engine. It would probably have gone quicker if it had not also been fitted with 5 trumpet air horns, burglar alarm, electric aerial, radio-cassette player, chromed fire extinguisher, Corbeau seats and custom fitted carpet!

The current Elan enthusiast owner has had the car for 20 odd years. Period photos attached.
