Hi, I was hoping someone might recognise it!
It’s lightweight, probably 40amps with that pulley, doubt any more than that.

I suppose there would be a manufacturing brand on the alternator (e.g. in period Lucas ACR 17 were installed)...

Do you have a picture of the rear face (opposite end to the pulley?), looks Japanese...

It does look suspiciously like a Nippondenso....., which has been used many times as an alternative to a Lucas on British cars because of the lighter weight.

I agree with this and they come in various sizes, output and wiring configurations. They are often lifted from smaller tractors or farm equipment and are easily available.Quite a few of the supplier do kits for the elan with them in.

I've fitted one on my car as the ACR17 was wearing out. It roughly half the weight and significantly higher output.

Very few identifiers, label seems to have been removed to get through scrutineering, nice billet pulley though:

looks like the Nippon-Denso type , you may find more after some digging (current rating etc.)
