Lotus Elan

Elan S3, S4, Sprint new Windscreen *** SOLD ***

PostPost by: mcclelland » Sat Jul 11, 2020 10:00 am

Hello all,

I have for sale a brand new never fittet 'Pilkington' windscreen.( Genuine Pilkington...not a repro ). The screen is tinted with heavy blue top tint. I also have an orriginal black rubber seal, used, but in very good condition.

This screen was a special order for a Plus 2 supplied by 'Mattys'. After waiting 10 weeks for Pilkingtons to deliver, it was the wrong screen...only discovered 18 months later on unwrapping and trying to fit. Can't find the invoice so I'm stuck with it.

The screen is for pick up only from the Warrington area..... Make me a decent offer. Tel: 0793 8833 206.

Many thanks, regards to all, George.

Bet Matty would still take it back, if it’s the wrong screen. Not unusual for parts to be put away unopened on a project. I find Paul extremely helpful on such matters.

which "Paul" do you have good contact with there?
I believe Paul Matty sold his business years ago, and in my experience the service level has changed, too (not so much the price policy, unfortunately)...

Strange that I spoke to Paul Matty himself there just this morning!

Hello George, when you say it’s the wrong screen , what is actually wrong with it ?
Regarding PM I can confirm that last time I was in his garage Paul was still there even though the place is up for sale.
I have always found Paul to be extremely helpful and have never heard of anyone complaining about his service.
Maybe because the screen was a special with the top tinted area ?

Hi Gino,
the screen was ordered specially at the time from Pilkingtons with a top tint for a Plus 2. The screen sat packaged untill 3 weeks ago.....on trying to fit it was found to be a screen for the small Elan. I spoke to Mattys and explained. They got back to me and said they could not find any records and I needed the receipt. I can not find the receipt which has gon astray as I'm in the process of moving house to France.
Hope this makes things clear...George.

ok good to know. I may try them again when the occasion arises, if there's someone responsible to talk to. Had a couple of frustrating experiences thenI figured the new owner had just dropped the ball...

They've had a change of staff in the parts department following retirement.
But as stated Paul is still very much there.
