Well done again Frank.
These look excellent. I have just made one which I don't think is as good as yours and cost at least as much.

Thank you everyone for the responses.

To make it easier, the cost is $8.50 with shipping to anyone in the USA. To the UK and Europe the cost is $9.20 with shipping. I just sent one this morning to the UK and they charged me an additional 70 cents to go overseas. For other countries, please ask and I will happily quote you for the Strap and shipping. It will be very reasonable.

Payment can be by PayPal or a check if drawn on a US Bank.

PayPal account is: [email protected]

Checks can be sent to:

For Graeme and everyone else.

Here is a comparison photo. One of these came off my 1966 Lotus Elan S2 SE which has been off the road since the early 1970's. The other is my new reproduction. The original screws are shown in the original and the new screws provided are shown in the reproduction. Which one is the original? Ha!

All the best,
Frank

So I've got my strap, thanks Frank, looks strong and stiff though it's a long time since I saw the original, but I can't remember where the top of it was screwed in. I have some security metalwork behind the dash near the glove box opening (RHD car, strap is on the RH side of the glove box) so it probably obscures the original hole.

Could someone give me a measurement from the bottom of the glove box up to the hole and its distance in from the vertical edge of the opening? Thanks in advance if you can, can't wait to have a proper one again!

Geoff, yours went in the mail on the 28th. You should receive them soon.

Mazzini, Thank you for the report of the perfect fit.

I took all the measurements from the original that was still installed on my original 66 Elan S2 SE original dash that was last on the road in the early 70's.

yes the original is very stiff also.

I will take some pics with measurement for installation in case yours is no longer there. All the ones I have seen are mounted on the left hand side of the glove box door.

Thank you everyone for your feed back.

If someone wanted one and you have not received it from me, please contact me. Stay healthy and thank you, Frank

Hi Frank
Strap arrived this morning, thank you. Can't see how to fit it yet though, there isn't enough gap around the door aperture to take the thickness of the strap if it is supposed to screw into the side of the door. Were you going to post a picture of how and where it fits? Looks good quality though, so well worth the cost. Thanks again
