Lotus Elan

SOLD SOLD SOLD Elan +2 5 speed clutch kit ("new old stock")

PostPost by: Andrewelan » Sun May 10, 2020 6:14 pm

Hi All

I have a new 8.5" (216mm) clutch kit for an Elan +2 5 speed which would appear to have been bought in error by the previous owner of my car (a 130S 4-speed which I bought with a large inventory of spares)

Plate and cover are Borg and Beck, the bearing is RHP.

There are a few very minor areas of surface rust on the cover face and straps which will disappear the first time the clutch is used. If you are especially concerned then a few minutes wire-wooling will see them gone. Also a few marks consistent with being stored unboxed with other parts. Nothing which will have any functional impact.

Prices for individual parts seem to vary around the various websites, but SJ Sportscars (no affiliation!) offer a complete kit for £290 inc VAT plus delivery.

I am happy to take £200 for the lot. I may sell individually if no takers as a job lot, but why replace one part only,,,,?

Delivery to be calculated depending where you live. Items are located Lincolnshire, UK. Typical delivery in UK to 'regular' postcodes looks to be around £20 inclusive of insurance at full retail price

Happy to send any more details/pics or discuss price by PM. Many thanks

Out of interest what's the part number on the original RHP thrust bearing. i have never seen one and always good to have the original number for reference. I can see the part number for the Borg and Beck plate does the cover have a Borg and Beck part number on it ?

cheers

I have what I think is the original part from my car in the garage, I'll have a look later.

Hi Rohan

With the aid of my magnifying glass, the RHP bearing number is

6/W1.5057

That checks out on the ABF site https://www.abf.store/s/en/bearings/6-W1-5057-RHP/515049

Brand RHP
Item Number 6/W1.5057 RHP
Category Clutch Bearing
Inner (d) MM 38,25
Outer (D) MM 68,58
Width (B) MM 15,75
Inner (d) Inch 1.5057
Outer (D) Inch 2.7000
Width (B) Inch 0.6200
Weight (kg) 0.20
Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) 6/W1.5057

As for the cover, there is a part number but its very blurry. My research suggests the correct Borg and Beck part number for Elan 5sp should be HE2848. Referring back to the picture I'm not seeing that!

Yes clutch pressure plate / cover numbers appear to not have been stamped and the various painted details appear to not relate to the nominal part number unfortunately

cheers
