Does anyone have an old c40 generator collecting dust they're willing to part with? I'm looking for one to rebuild.

Think Henry needs one from USA as shipping internationally alone would probably be cost prohibitive.

If for sure it's the C40 which is the short one you can find this on almost any old british classic car.
Mini, triumph spitfire, mgb, mg midget etc.

Yes, C40 and yes, North Carolina in the US - so shipping from overseas likely doesn't make any sense. I will do a local salvage yard search, too, but thought I'd ask here at the same time.

My 7 is still on dynamo and I've never worked on one, so thought I'd try to find an old one to rebuild and learn from next off season.

Hi, Henry. Dont forget to polarize the dynamo after re furbishing. I bench test all mine with an analog (moving coil) meter. I also suggest you use studs in place of the bolts to secure the dynamo bracket to the block Amazing how many brackets I have seen, broken and loose. I use Loctite red stud and bearing #241.
Every stud on my Coventry Climax engines are installed with #241 and same for our alloy differential case. Bolts into alloy and cast iron, other than first application are not the best method.
One more month of lock down in our San Francisco Bay Area, but a drive today or tomorrow around the reservoir, probably in the Automatic Elite/Elan 1725 cc Twin Cam is on the schedule with the guys. Cheers. Mike.
