Glen, curious as to what the stamping die was used for? I see there's a tag but can't read it well enough. Also, how was that obtained, did Lotus sell dies as commemorative items, good idea?

I bought it at a flea market Snetterton race track years ago. The guy I bought it from didn’t know what the die was used for but he told Lotus usually destroys the dies when they aren’t being used anymore. Couldn?t give me any other explanation.

I paid stupid $$$ for it, but it was a conversation piece for many years on my desk :D

Surely it ought to have a part # stamped into it. Could you take a closer photo so we could read the tag, please?

Glenn, thanks for the close up. With the undeniable power of the internet, I found this dated 2013 on Lotus Talk illuminating what the die was most likely used for and possibly the person from whom you obtained it? "Validation Prototype", how exotic, if I was still accumulating rather than thinning the herd as you are, I'd be all over this! Jerry

Thanks Jerry, the mystery is solved. I had done a search years ago and couldn't come up with anything for some reason. I never looked again. Had a funny feeling it was a prototype die made before production was initiated.

A piece of Lotus history!

Decoding the Part number B132L0064

B means Index B
132 means Evora
L means Fuel System
0064 is the unique identfier, may be a sub-component...

Phil, thanks for that insight. Here's another fixture, albeit much more involved, that the fellow had acquired, Glenn, was that offered to you as well? It too appears to be for the Evora, type 132.

Thanks Phil! After all these years and now that I’m selling it I finally know what it was for.

Nope, never saw that. It’s too big anyway for a desk “paper weight”.........
