NOS Philips Turnolock Radio

PostPost by: elanfan1 » Tue Aug 07, 2018 5:29 pm

A change of plan forces the sale of this new still in the box Philips Turnolock AM/Lw radio. A very rare find I?m sure you?ll agree. The radio is currently away being checked over by a classic radio specialist (there?s usually a reason why these NOS radios exist and that?s because they?re faulty. I believe he intends on replacing some old capacitors which tend to dry out over time) and at the same time I?ve asked him to fit a lead for an MP3 player which I presume you could also play a small FM radio through. So this should be a great opportunity to acquire a great new radio.

Offers invited bearing in mind there?s currently a NOS one on eBay without the MP3 lead and that hasn?t had its old capacitors replaced. eBay one is ?499! Ouch.

Transistors don't dry out, but electrolytic capacitors do. I suspect that he wishes to replace capacitors.

Old transistors can whisker inside growing a short circuit of crystal, but they could only do that if powered up.

I stand corrected. But even that?s wonky!

Thanks Bill, original post amended.

I'm interested. I'll message you when I return from holiday at the weekend and see if we can agree a price. Jim
