Lotus Elan

Lotus "World Champions 1963" Decals

PostPost by: elans3 » Sat Nov 05, 2016 2:11 pm

I have a limited number of each of these decals, for either exterior use, or to adhere to glass from the interior.. Some years ago I had an original, from the mid-sixties, which was paper with gummed edges, and I had some decals made up in both formats to replicate the original.
The decals measure 150mm x 60mm
Available once again, first come, first served.
?5.95 each,
Qty 2 , (or one of each format), for ?11.00 posted to the UK.
Please request a postage price if you are outside of the UK.

Many thanks

I didn't think Lotus used that font in 1963. Am I mistaken?
Thanks
Chris :)

This photo of Jim Clark showing off the St. Mary?s Trophy following his win in the Saloon Car race at Goodwood in 1965 shows the font was in use by then, don't know when they first used it, but it was in use earlier than most think. :D

Just found the link I was looking for earlier, tells the story of Jim's 1963 season, lots of pictures showing use of the seraphed font, & a nice little read in to the bargain :D

Yes but... can you show a photo of that font used on the round badge in 1963? I don't think it was until rather later. But I'm often wrong? :D

As if by magic :)

The actual nose badges didn't use that font until much, much later, i think it was when they reverted back to the round badge style after the oval type, but it was used in printed versions very early on.

Can't answer that, but I am suspicious that this character bought one of mine the last time I had them for sale years ago . My mistake, I offered them on Ebay.
There were no others available at that time, and I had not seen anything like it until I found the original, gummed paper one.
He obviously makes them in bigger qty's than I can afford to have made, hence the slightly cheaper price (when postage taken into account).
I believe he is only offering a window cling version though.
