Any interest in reproduction cylinder head Spark Shields?

PostPost by: pharriso » Tue Jan 12, 2016 11:52 pm

Is there any interest in Cylinder Head Spark Suppression Shields if I get a batch made up?

They would look like the OE, as in:
cylinderhead_sparksuppressionshield_catia.jpg and

Target price would be $60 or 40 quid.

Please reply here if you would have any interest in buying one (or more!)

Been thinking about finding such a part, Phil, but wondering about the "clip on" version, as shown in Bob Herzog's thread:
lotus-parts-f33/parts-pictures-t36009.html

Appeals to me more than having to release four nuts on the cam cover studs in order to get at the spark plugs. Then again, perhaps the clip on type rattles . . . ?

Which type for what car/year?? :?

Thanks,

Randy

Hi Phil
Like Sea Ranch I would be interested in the clip on type as they look sturdier and easier to take off to get to the plugs.
Thanks

I'd like one please!

I have a few of the clip on types, but they damage the paint on the cam covers and they pop out when driving and rattle, I can live with having to undo the four nuts.

I suppose one could amend the fixing holes to slots so one only has to loosen the nuts, not take them off completely?

You could probably use Wing-Nuts too, though I don't know if they make Nylok wing-nuts.

Phil,

I would also like one, but only if it is the clip on type.

I made one myself but used screws and captive nuts in place of the pop rivets so that the shield can be removed with our slacking the cam covers nuts.

I rent a unit next to E-type Fabs, I could ask the panel guys there is they would make us up a batch, not sure about sourcing the clips though.

Phil if I haven't hijacked your thread, I'd be happy to send you a cover to use as a pattern if you want to make them?

Now you're confusing me....   I thought you wanted the later style that I have modelled (flatter, no clips??)

I have just bought the style with clips from Zog, but that is only for early cars... i.e. not mine! I bought it (and the split clip style) to satisfy my OCD for the month

Phil I would like a late type bolt on version, but I don't have a pattern.

I do have a few clip in versions, but I didn't realise that you do too, I could have some made, but if you wanted to make them I was going to offer to loan you one as a pattern, but it;s not necessary.
