FS: Gearbox - Dummy Layshaft

PostPost by: 65 Lotus » Wed Dec 09, 2015 12:39 am

Dummy layshaft for installing the laygear (cluster gear) assembly in the Elan gearbox during rebuild for sale, $50.

I had the shaft made when overhauling a gearbox. Centerless ground to 0.678" with a hole through the middle of the shaft for expelling air. Perfect length and size, made from 4340 steel. Works as prescribed.

Will ship to the lower 48 for $50.

My dummy layshaft I made from an old layshaft cut down to the required length, I then laboriously reduced its diameter by rolling it against the wheel on a bench grinder until it would pass through the interference fit part of the gearcasing, it works a treat but given the time taken yours is well worth the price.

Also its much more pleasant to work with a precision manufactured tool than a real lash up that would have no place in a pro workshop.
