Alloy Gearbox Bell Housing. UK **** SOLD ****

PostPost by: Fredtech » Mon Feb 23, 2015 10:32 am

Guys. Garage Clear-out and this oddly modified Alloy Bell needs to go. I'll be E-Baying it, but just incase its of use to anyone, here is the brief. I can post to UK address, but its rather bulky. Collection is fine, or I can take to Castle-Coumbe in May if you can wait that long.

LOTUS ELAN BELL HOUSING, ALTHOUGH THIS MIGHT ALSO FIT EARLY ESCORT AND CORTINAS. I BELIVE THIS IS ACTUAL MAGNESIUM AS IT IS MUCH LIGHTER THAN THE REGULAR ALLOY ONE THAT I ALSO HAVE.
THIS MAG-ALLOY BELL-HOUSING CAME TO ME WITH ALL THE MODIFICATIONS THAT YOU CAN SEE. FOR SOME REASON THE SLAVE-CYL HAS BEEN MOUNTED ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE AND THE STARTER MOTOR PART OF THE BELL HAS BEEN GROUND AWAY. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THIS WAS DONE TO MAKE THE BELL FIT A DIFFIRENT INSTALATION THAN AN ELAN, POSSIBLY A RACE CAR RUNNING A FORD X-FLOW ENGINE OR TWINCAM.

This looks like an interesting bell housing and could fit in well with my ongoing 26R replica project, please let me know what you are asking. If all is agreed I can settle up now and then wait until Castle Combe.

John. This alloy bell is I believe "Magnesium". I only say that as I have a similar one for a Cortina/Escort
that is Alloy, but much heavier.

That being the case there are a few things to bear in mind. I'm sure you have checked the
photos and can clearly see the additional holes that have been cut in it. What these are for, I don't know.
The Slave Cyl has been re-located to the right-hand side as well.

It does bear a Fo-Mo-Co number, so I'm guessing it originally came from one of their performance or possibly Ford-Race vehicle's

You will need to decide yourself if this is suitable for your needs.

If your interested, drop me a P-Mail. Thanks' a lot, John.
