Awe Steve, I read each and every post and spend way too much time looking at your photos. Amazing work. Many of us are just dumbfounded. 8)

Same here, Steve. I've marveled a the things you've done and laughed out loud at some of your comments, but hesitate to clutter your thread with comments. Please keep us posted!

OK, thanks guys :-)

New pedal box arrived today. Very well built but heavier than claimed. Website says 2.8kg but it is a little over 3.4Kg

However, there is a lot of scope for lightening so I will attack it over the next couple of weeks.

Dry fitting box confirmed that it has to be recessed into the floor. I will also see if I can move the bulkhead/wheel well forward 20-30mm.

Modified master cylinder reservoir (shortened and lightened)) fits but was a little high so I reduced length of fitting. Every little helps. I will be replacing them with aluminium ones as soon as my 5/8" die arrives :-)

However, there is no guarantee that the reserviors will remain where they are. It depends on how they interact/interfere with my feet.

Just realised that I haven't told you about my handbrake issue.

It is a race-based hydraulic unit from Rally Design. All fitted fine but I recently realised that it is designed to be used sans central console. The locking mechanism is a simple bar that locks into slots in the piston shaft. This has to be lifted manually and this isn't a problem if it isn't hidden by a central console.

So, how to release handbrake without removing the console? After a fair amount of brain pain I came up with a solution. Using an itsy bitsy pokadot bikini, I mean solenoid, and a button on the end of the handle and problem is solved.

Image

Video below shows proof of concept. Awaiting smaller solenoid that will be fitted inside casing and will act on the small aluminium bar that can be seen just above the solenoid piston. And don't worry, I will use black tape so it blends in.

Can anyone explain why my photos are so small? Other people post decent sized images on this post but mine are tiny. Help!

I believe it is because externally hosted images are now given a fixed (small) size. Previously they where just sized to the image size, which meant they where often much bigger than the screen they were viewed on. So you only got to view a strip of the photo.....

Photo's that are uploaded are resized to fit the site.

You use the upload attachment button at the bottom instead of the img one.
