Anyone who has built a car will appreciate that it's the little jobs that take up a lot of the time.

Two-part structural epoxy and 3 layers of carbon fibre should hold the blind nuts to the home made seat that is now relegated to the passenger side.



This is one of four seat bracket support bars (two each side). They need to be as low as possible as I have a lack of headroom.

I see what you mean. That should work fine on the sump when I get around to it.

Getting ready for Monday, when my welder is coming round to do a few jobs. Made passenger seat brackets today so another tick on the endless list. Total weight of seats and brackets is 5.4Kg. Fixing bolts are temporary until titanium ones arrive

Roll cage has certainly improved the chassis stiffness. One leg of the lift isn't doing anything!

Not sure how I missed this thread up to now. Outstanding workmanship, I must say. When I read the first few entries I didn't imagine the level of workmanship and engineering that is evident throughout this build. I look forward to seeing more...

Thanks, just don't look too close . Stuff has been made to work, not sell, so final finishes are not the best.

Tyres...bloody tyres, still trying to work out the best combination. I thought I had finally cracked it after years of searching with the Michelin TB5s.



However, the size options for 15" rims are restricted and the smallest size for the front is a little high on the aspect ratio (50) than I would like, the 225mm width option is only 5mm smaller in diameter than the 285 rears I planned to use. Pirelli do a P7 Corsa Classic in 305/35 and 235/45 with diameters within 1mm so similar difference but they come in three softness grades. What I can't find out are the Mu values so I can compare 'stickiness'.



One of my main tasks at the NEC in January is to discuss this problem with both Pirelli and Michelin to see if I can resolve my (potentially expensive) dilemma as the tyre size dictates wheel width as this has to match the footprint width in order to wring out the maximum grip.

Glued in rear panels yesterday. Access to rear suspension is pretty good.







Started to think about the front firewall/bulkhead. I had planned to place it on the dash side of the crossbar, but this doesn't leave enough width for the battery so it will have to go the exhaust side. I will just have to add additional heat shielding.

Seats fitted. The Reverie driver's seat is rock solid. The passenger's seat (the one I made with 2 layers of carbon fibre) Is fine in the bum area but the back is a little floppy. A couple of brackets to the roll cage should help this. Anyway, I won't be sitting in it

My sister-in-law worked at the Disneyland Hotel back in the 80s so we got free tickets

On looking up Winnimucca on Google Earth I see that you live on the road to Wendover. We stayed there 2 years ago in an abortive attempt to see some action on the salt (washed out but didn't find out until we had driven 605 miles from LA) Tried again this year but at least we found out a few days before leaving LA so were able to cancel hotels. We at least managed to get to El Mirage on our last weekend so got a taster.

We will be trying again, probably in 2018. The idea will be to see some racing then tour the area. Maybe we could drop in for a coffee?

A little progress. Glued in dash unit and trimmed top edge so the dash top fits properly. Once glue has set I will secure firewall and then glue dash top on for good. I have kept the essence of the original dash shape in order to keep the purists happy
